Pizza month was epic! Kettle Pizza sponsored a month long pizza cook off event and donated THREE of their top-of-the-line Serious Eats Edition Kettle Pizza kits.
All of the judging and winner selection was done by the folks over at Kettle Pizza. There was just no way I could have judged this contest objectively.
We had more than 70 entries across three categories.
For the first category, Pizza 2.0, we were looking for new and creative pizza cooks. Crazy and unheard of pizza toppings. We asked, and Jason delivered with this spectacular shrimp scampi pie. Great job Jason.
In the Dessert Category, Nate knocked it out of the park with this apple crisp pizza. This needs to be in my belly soon. Totally digging that apple peeler gadget too! Great job Nate!
In the Best Overall Cook category, Austin (and PBE Gummi Bear) teamed up for a truly monstrous pizza cook. Several grills involved with everything being made from scratch. Bonus points for cooking on a vintage red 26″!
Thank you everyone for entering, and thank you Kettle Pizza for sponsoring this event (and producing such an EXCELLENT device.)
1Buckie (Ken) is our first WKC featured member in 2014. I first ran into Buckie in 2012 and he always had these massive smoked cooks and rows of kettles a smokin’. I would also probably describe him as a ‘turd fiend as he cooks tons of them (literally). 1Buckie is a true Grillfella as he’s got the…
Very rarely do I use the word “epic” but regarding the story I am about to share it’s the only adjective I feel is fitting. This insane journey started 7 months ago when WKC member @Plant_City_Mike sent me a message to share a very cool CL find that he had come across in Jacksonville FL. Simply listed…
The Weber Master-Touch has been a long time favorite of enthusiast grillers as it comes packed with features right out of the box. Well a few days ago I was fortunate enough to come across a Red Fade “EI” code kettle still new in the original packaging. Come take a quick peek back in time and see what unboxing a…
Owner: G Custom Mod: Stu took a 26″ OTG and mounted it to a ranch kettle frame, thus finding a solution for wobbly leg syndrome on 26″ kettles. Story: G often thought a 26″ OTG in a Ranch-type frame would be a sweet setup so he ordered a ranch kettle frame and got to work. The…
May 7, 2019 – Weber has given us a bone! For the last decade Weber Kettle Club’s hardcore grill collectors have begged, pleaded, and even traveled overseas to acquire a grill of color. Today Weber has announced FOUR NEW COLORS to the Weber Charcoal lineup! It’s currently unknown whether these grills will maintain their longheld…
Featured here is a vintage Weber charcoal caddy owned by WKC member Jeff. Based on actual Weber literature, this caddy was offered as early as 1963 at a price of 12.95, and as late as 1972 with a price up to 19.95. It was described by Weber as the no-mess way to handle charcoal. Keep…
