Pizza month was epic! Kettle Pizza sponsored a month long pizza cook off event and donated THREE of their top-of-the-line Serious Eats Edition Kettle Pizza kits.
All of the judging and winner selection was done by the folks over at Kettle Pizza. There was just no way I could have judged this contest objectively.
We had more than 70 entries across three categories.
For the first category, Pizza 2.0, we were looking for new and creative pizza cooks. Crazy and unheard of pizza toppings. We asked, and Jason delivered with this spectacular shrimp scampi pie. Great job Jason.
In the Dessert Category, Nate knocked it out of the park with this apple crisp pizza. This needs to be in my belly soon. Totally digging that apple peeler gadget too! Great job Nate!
In the Best Overall Cook category, Austin (and PBE Gummi Bear) teamed up for a truly monstrous pizza cook. Several grills involved with everything being made from scratch. Bonus points for cooking on a vintage red 26″!
Thank you everyone for entering, and thank you Kettle Pizza for sponsoring this event (and producing such an EXCELLENT device.)
I consider these two cooking grates the best options available for the Weber charcoal grill. Upgrading the cooking grate is a quick and easy way to improve your grill and up your grilling game. Weber does not make a complete cast iron grate. Here’s a complete list of cooking grate upgrades for the Weber kettle….
This dark green color was first introduced in 1979. In 1981, the change to using wooden bowl handles meant this color was only produced for two years as a metal bowl handle model. I recently acquired this one from long time WKC member landgraftj. He came into possession of it soon after joining the WKC…
Custom Conversion – Project “Jerome” Owner: Winz Custom Mod: Using a Copper One Touch Silver as starting point, the concept was to create a Copper One Touch Gold M/T. The kettle is designed as a matching companion kettle to Project “Bisbee”. Story: While building project “Bisbee”, the OTG ash assembly and lid holder from the…
This is an 18.5″ kettle made in 1958-59. We will describe the color of this grill as “Sky Blue” for now. Its certainly darker than the turquoise, or “baby blue” more of us are familiar with. This is the only grill we have documented in this color. This particular grill has an unmarked lid vent….
One of the most desired and “asked for” models of grills that Weber has yet to create is the 26″ Performer. Well this grill may be the closest we have seen to date. WKC member Ron, aka “TexasOnion” decided he would make his own 26″ Weber Performer. This custom setup features two stainless steel Performer carts mounted end to end…
1979: Weber Grill History edit The 1979 Weber Charcoal grill is identified by lid vent with the modern embossed or “raised” WEBER logo. The turn tab on the lid vent is large and now matches the turn tabs on the bowl vents. This is the style of lid vent used today. Features and Changes in…
