An underlying tenet of the WKC, sometimes barely perceivable but ever-present, is the sentiment of "paying it forward". It wasn't long ago as a super NOOB, I was looking for a set of three ash clips. Unaware of the existence of ereplacements.com, or the virtues of buying cheap kettles for parts, I jumped into this site to ask if I could buy these clips from someone here:
WTB three clips for ash catcher pan
http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/index.php?topic=25635I had no prior interaction with @Jon (or anyone really), but he generously sent a pack of brand new ash clips; his asking price - simply "pay it forward". This was my first encounter with Kettle Karma, and I can definitively say it's this attitude of kindness & Kommunity that has kept me around. In a sense, @Jon's generosity was my gateway into Weberitis, and although I never publicly thanked him, I've never forgotten that small gesture. Thank you, @Jon.
Just a year later, I continue to be the recipient of members' unfathomable generosity and I'm still surprised by the eagerness of those members who look out for one another and who, almost presciently, offer their help.
Such was the case with @JEBIV, who saw that I reached out to another WKC'er to buy a roti ring, and took it upon himself to box and ship this gloriously faded original roti ring. I love it so much and it's the perfect addition to my ongoing performer project. Thank you, JEBIV, you're a pillar of our Kettle Kommunity, and I promise I'll continue to pay it forward.
I love love love that last pic. Hopefully you do too.
