No. You would need an adapter with male threads on each end.

Isn't this question around a 5# tank?

Are you looking to try and fill a Performer 5# tank (with QD) from a 20# tank?

I believe what you're thinking of is a version of this...

Male quick disconnect fitting going to the Performer tank. And on the other end a female connector for the 20# tank.

I've never looked for one, but I'm assuming you'll need to build one.

I would use a short hose between the fittings to give you some flexibility.

Then, would it work the same as filling the small one pounders - I wonder.

Let us know if you do it.

I found the propane guy near me just fills them (someone else just typed that)

Just picked up an SSP not too long ago. What is the correct solution to the 5lb tank. If I buy a new one can I just get a new regulator for the grill?

I bought a new tank for my SS Performer.  My propane hose has a quick disconnect on it, so I had the buy the quick disconnect accessory for the tank and it was good to go.  Not sure if they all came with the quick disconnect from Weber, or the person who owned it before me is responsible for that.

Thanks Mike. I guess I'll swing by my local propane supply place and check out my options. Not even sure how the tanks mount in the frame? Will any 5 pounder work?

Here is what I have come up with.  The piece on far right I have had for years. My first Genesis had a 20lb tank with quick disconnect.  Half of it is an external thread to internal thread . With a female quick  disconnect. Then the adapter for refilling 1lb tanks from 20lb. Then the 4 ft adapter hose to hook 20lb tank to I
1 lb tank fitting.

I just take my 5lb tank to the propane filling station and they do it.  Never been an issue.  I refill the 1lb tanks all the time with that HF adapter.  Works great.
