Yep, @MINIgrillin is absolutely correct. Webertitis will offset good judgement. My latest redhead looked just like that. In fact, when I went to look at it, in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "Holy crap this thing is rough". I bought it anyway, cleaned her up and now she's one of my daily cookers. Go get the kettle bud. You'll not regret it.
Here's mine cleaned up

3 hours 59 min 254 miles for me. Central Texas hasn't shown much in the way of vintage/colored kettles in the last year and a half. Think I saw 1 Red  and it was gone in a flash. A few blues. One nice Blue Performer $200 I should have bought. One SSP.

johncorvin

Hoping north Texas will show a little more for me. Haven't been watching for long. Someone beat me to a black kettle with wood handles today. Was in great shape. If their on this forum show us some pics.

MINIgrillin

North Texas is pretty dry. I haven't seen anything good in a while. At least nothing that was interesting and a decent deal. It seems like everything is more expensive in DFW.

My advice is to save some cash and keep your eyes open directly after Christmas. A lot of folks get new grills to replace their old ones. Hopefully there will be some interesting ones. Last year was a bust.

@TD @johncorvin  what area y'all live in?
Seville. CnB performer:blue,green,gray. 26r. 18otg. Karubeque C-60.

hawgheaven

Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

I'm in Shady Shores near Lewisville Lake.

I'd go for it!
Is faded black an actual color? Or is it literally a faded black which used to be shiny?

Faded black is just that. Black faded by the long term sun exposure. Apparently you can bring back the black temporarily by a little heat and some oil. Weber did make gray but I don't know what years.

If it's still available and you can grab it, go get it tomorrow. Looks like an early A code, straight edge ash pan, triangle looks good and the handle is intact.  Maybe even pre 79'.

It's a 78 and my cousin has it. He picked it up for me. It was close to his house. $20 I got it
