Genesis burner screws.
« on: July 28, 2017, 11:51:25 AM »
Hi.
I've got a red genesis 1000, approx 1998.
The burners need replacing.
Screw heads are rusted to hell.
Any suggestions , tips, or tricks from you wizards of restoration ?
Thank you in advance.
Bob C.

Depends on which screw heads you are talking about.  If it's the ones inside the firebox at the ends of the burner tubes, you don't want to even try taking them out.  They are fixed in place and are just there for the notches on the ends of the tube to slide under.

The problem is that the spacing fills with gunk.  Spray down with some degreaser and/or try to work a razor in to clean it up.  then pull firmly on the burner tube to remove it.

Thanks a lot.
I've never stripped one of these down before.
I assumed it was a normal screw, but figured I should ask a question before breaking something.
