It's not just a grill, it's a WEBER

I have 2  Baby Q's (renamed Q 100's) and a Q 120.  They are my wife's domain for grilling vegetables.  We are quite a team every night preparing our meals.  In winter time, I move the Baby Q up on the front porch for out of the rain cooking. I have a a Weber always at the ready under the covered RV structure.  Prior to retirement, I did most of my cooking on the Q's during the week and the kettle on the weekends.   Since my retirement in 2005, all my cooking is on the charcoal kettles.

I just got a Q for free last week and I love it. I will always charcoal it, but this is a great little gasser. I have so far cooked a grill cheese, a tuna melt, and some hot dogs. All really good.

Can you clean the outside of a Q the same way as the kettle using #0000 steel wool and soapy water?

No. Unlike the kettles baked on porcelain enamel, the Q's are painted.   It would be like using steel wool on the painted surface of your vehicle.  Won't end well. I use a blue scrub pad with either Simple Green or Dawn soap.

Thank you very much! I will give it a shot.

Been a charcoal griller since I left for college when I was 18.  Not too long, just 6 years, but 100% of my grilling years.  Only nice grill I could afford, Weber of course.  Reluctantly bought a Q1200 last week so my wife could make chicken for lunch without having to start charcoal.  Pleasantly surprised with the quality and cook.  Looking forward to using it (sparingly) in the future.

Fire ban days are a reality in Australia, which means no "solid fuel" therefore, it's important to have a reliable gasser

Have a Q220 that I purchased new in 2012 with the cart and hose for a larger tank.   It is big enough but only has one burner so it is easy on the gas.  One 20lb tank will last months.   Love the cast aluminum and cast iron grate only problem I've had is replacing the burner last year.  It will hold 2-3 spatchcocked chickens so I have quit smoking chickens and prefer the 1 hour cook on the Q220

Recently picked up a NIB Q1000 on CL for half the retail price.  It will be kept in the camper and serve as a more portable grill. It is noticeably lighter than the Q220. Here it is in action on our deck table.   Was being lazy with the kids wanted to sit and grill wile watching tv. I use the 1lb cylinders on this one but have devised a way to refill them.  Maybe I'll make a post about it later.

Picked up a 2006 model Q200 on CL for the parents who were tired of their electric.  Paid $40 and it had the cart.  Someone had removed the regulator and replaced it with your standard hoses with regulator at the tank.  Won't take the 1lb Coleman propane bottles but works  great, they love it, and have no idea it is 11 years old.
