With all the negative Craigslist story's flying around recently, I had a good one today. I had been watching an ad for a few days and debating on contacting the seller. It said "final moving - make an offer", and had a few things listed. One of which was a Weber kettle under a cover. Here was the out of focus pic.
Considering the the black and white cover, the very flat top handle, and the weird looking shape under the cover, I figured it HAD to be a Mastertouch. So I contacted the guy for more info. He confirmed it had an ash bucket assembly, but didn't know the color or the model. He said that he couldn't remove the cover because it was stuck or caught on something. He offered to cut the cover off, or I could come take it "as is" for $10. That price was right for whatever was under the cover, so I high tailed it 45 miles out of my way this afternoon in the search of the mystery kettle.
I got there and was led to the back porch where I fiddled with the stubborn cover and revealed this
Perfect handles
Pretty clean inside
And almost no rust on the support bar. It sweeps perfectly
The money shot
The grates were in good shape and it included two of the newer style charcoal baskets. Needless to say, I was pretty ecstatic. It needs a good cleaning, but the bowl and lid appear to be flawless. I can't wait for some nicer weather so I can polish her up
