The Wait Is Over....Avocados Are Back
« on: December 07, 2013, 12:59:15 PM »
Well sort of.....some may remember this thread from a while back:
http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/e-replacements-'avacado'-lid-from-weber/

At the time, the matching bowl for the lid was not available.....not any longer.  Its a little pricey but now you can build your own "avocado" kettle.

Cool, I sure hope someone who really wants a cado will pull the trigger so we can see them first hand. I think they are actually Sage like the one Golly has. Those are nice though, just not the vintage two tone.

yes...I was the one that bought the lid.  Its certainly lighter in color than the original avacado color we are used to (see original link above for color comparisons).  This color from E-Replacements is more of the light color "sage" like Duke mentioned.  Still a cool color grill to have, but its gonna cost you more just for the bowl and lid than a complete 22 OTG will cost you.

181.20 for a bowl and lid to make a OTS
187.09 for a bowl and lid to make a OTG
Neither of these will include your leg kit, ash pan or OTG enclosed ash catcher, or the One Touch hardware

^If I was going to do it, I'd go Gold but that's going to be one pricey grill.

Hey Jeff,

just curious, what was the vent code on the one you bought?

I'll ask the dumb question....

What's the difference between a OTS bowl and a OTG bowl?  I thought the bowls were the same and only the ash pan verses ash catcher were different.
As Jeff said - Neither of these will include your leg kit, ash pan or OTG enclosed ash catcher, or the One Touch hardware
So what's different with the bowls?
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

The OTG has two handles on the bowl, the OTS has only one (which allows you to easily convert an OTS into a MT if so inclined).

Not to derail this thread, but what would this entail?
1) Drilling a hole in the lid for the therm.
2) Drilling two small holes in the lid handle-risers for the therm cover
3) Drilling the holes in the bowl for the lid-holder assembly.
4) Attaching the ring and ash-pan

Did I miss anything?

Before anyone drops the cash for one of these, I would NOT call it an avocado as we know them.  Take a look at this photo.
The lid on the left is a "true" Avocado.  The center lid is the one I got from E-Replacements that is being called an "avocado".  Its really Sage, not avocado.  The right lid is the older style Lime color for comparison.  You be the judge.
