New Member Intro - 50's Demo Model
« on: March 28, 2022, 10:52:54 AM »
Have had an old, old Weber for decades and decided to see how old it was and found this site. Way older than I thought. Must be a 2nd generation - 50's. Been using it since the 70's. I don't even remember where I got it from. Even found that it must be an original demo version as the demo is stenciled on the lid. Going to clean it up and repaint the legs and base. Trying to attach a few photos.

Welcome from Doraville, Ga. That is one fine Demo you have there
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Welcome from Olathe KS.  Awesome looking grill.  I would just clean the legs and tray.  It gives the grill its character.

Thanks for the warm welcome messages. Started on the clean up. Bowl and lid insides have cleaned up pretty well. Still has some shine on the inside. Got two of the three thumb screws and legs out. One twisted off and is still stuck. Will continue to work on it. I didn't even realize the legs were originally chrome plated. They have had some silver paint on them all these years and I never looked that close at them. Got the wheels off and will sandblast and repaint. Repairing the rubber part will be the toughest part. Missing one of the metal retainers that go on the end of the axle. Chris-B-Que, I may be messaging you with some questions as I go. Thanks again everyone.

I recommend looking up posts about Evaporust. It works wonders restoring kettles. Legs, triangles, and wheels as well.

I second evaporust esp the liquid stuff it works wonders. On legs, utility pans and wheels.

I would recommend not painting anything. Leave it as-is, value goes down with shiny new paint
