Hello, from No. California foothills
« on: October 20, 2021, 04:04:45 PM »
Hi, it's been a few years since I've had a kettle, yet recently I've acquired a couple so I thought I'd join.

I started with a Weber Smokey Joe and later was given a hand me down weber 22 inch kettle. I used them both a lot.

20 years ago my Mom and Dad gave me a Genesis Silver B for a "big" birthday. I still have it and use it regularly.
10 years ago I was lucky that Mom and Dad spoiled me with a large big green egg on an even bigger birthday.
About 5 years ago I "loaned" my kettle to a friend to use for cold smoking. I didn't expect it to return, and it has not.
2 years ago on a whim I bought a Pit Boss 820 pro pellet on an amazing sale. It became my frequent go-to for tri-tip and ribs. It was easy to turn on and cook some things.
This spring I found a used Genesis E 330 at a give away price.
I considered retiring the Genesis Silver B, but instead it has become my new favorite for rotisserie chicken.
I picked up a free Genesis 1000 Red Head, and combined some Silver B trim as a work in progress.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a free 22" kettle close to me so I picked it up. Pic below. Metal handle base, looks like late 70s

A week or so later, another "free charcoal grill" came along. I first thought it was a Performer but it turns out to be a 2004 One Touch Platinum = DH code.

I've been wanting a kettle again, and now I have two. I'll likely give one away as I'm short on space.

Anyway, thanks for having me.

Dan

Thanks. Lets see if I can add some pics.

Here is the first free 22 I picked up. Rather rough but it should cook well.

a 2004 One Touch Platinum with some extras.  This one was double the cost of the free one above. quite a bargain.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill
