It will be interesting what they do in the short run with the injection of capital. It could be an opportunity to finance R&D on really cool ideas, however as with all public companies it eventually means being accountable to shareholders which just want their investment to grow.

I truly don't think it will be any worse than it is currently, as it is owned by a private equity firm which is honestly worse than publically traded companies.  As a publically traded company, they will at least need to be held accountable to shareholders, and there is some accountability.  Private equity is awful...see articles below.  If Weber is being spun away from its parent BDT Capital, that is a good thing.  However I don't know enough about what this IPO means for their relationship with BDT.

This ABSOLUTELY does not mean things go to shit, or product declines in quality. It's already owned by the worst kind of ownership, so really it can only go up.

I didn't know it was owned by a private equity firm so yeah this is way better

I'm stoked. I just got into the stock market this year and at minimum I can keep my eye in this and learn from it. Best case scenario I make a few bucks and get to vote on what direction the company goes.

Hopefully the top notch customer service doesn't drop in quality and they don't become stingy with warranty replacements in order to increase their margins.

Together we'll fight the long defeat.

I hope this doesn't mean the return to black kettles only for the U.S., while Weber offers colored kettles to the rest of the world. And, that would totally suck, if Weber U.S. Customer Service is based out of Indonesia or

India, etc.

Filibuster

If they have a drp plan I'll probably buy the stocks through there, have them send me one share and frame it.

I can understand the concern however I don't know that I agree with some of the preemptive bashing going on between here and on other groups/platforms. I will take the "wait and see" approach. Who knows? it could be a positive. It is my understanding that the Stephen family will still have a controlling interest? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

No I do not work for Weber-Stephen Products LLC. Just throwing in my .02

I agree with crowderjd

Does anyone (with more stocks experience than me) know how we can watch for this to open so we can buy in from the beginning? It would be great if anyone has insight on how we can buy this and could post a how-to for us less informed!
Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.

The IPO date is not set as of yet, though if you do want to buy be sure to buy right as the market opens on the IPO date OR wait for the dip in price after dust has settled (IPO stocks tend have rise rapidly in first day to week on the market and then dip down to or close to the initial price level).

I'd be interested to see how much revenue the smoke fire compared to more established brands in the pellet arena. That could play a role in the perceived value of the company.
