been a weberite for 40 years. my present 22" kettle is 15 years old and still going strong. one of the more remarkable points is the lit thermometer is still dead on according to my tp20 digital...ws

Welcome from Indiana. I assume the thermometer you have goes through the lid handle?  In my opinion, those are the only Weber thermometers that work. All modern Weber lid thermos are completely worthless, both on the wsm and kettles.
