My pickup from Monday

Hi,

I got a not used 26.75".
This size is very uncommon here and I have never seen one before. Damn it's big and heavy.
Unfortunately it has an issue with the level. The front (front leg side) is nearly 5cm (2") higher.
I asked Weber for support, I guess the welding-maschin had an issue.

I am not sure it's the leg.
I guess the sockets are not in perfect place.
I have no answer from Weber as yet.

Maybe someone out there with has a similar grill could send me the length of the two "back" legs (the one with the wheels).
Mine are nearly exact 2" shorter than the one form the new MasterTouch. So instead of a new bowl or cutting off the front leg I could maybe use Mastertouch legs.
At first I am interested in the org. leg length.

I can't help you with the leg length but I had a thought.
Maybe you can measure from the lip of the bowl to the leg sockets with a flexible tape measure. I believe that they welded some leg sockets in the wrong position awhile back.

Excellent pickup! You are going to love cooking on it! The cooking grate is stainless steel and should last quite a long time.

As for the leg, many of the new ones are like that I’m afraid. You’re correct about the socket placement. Some have received replacement bowls. Others have cut a little off of the front leg to compensate. Both of mine are like that and the only time it has ever been an issue was when I tried seasoning my large paella pan on it.

One of these days I’ll probably cut the legs a little to fit. 99% of the time it doesn’t bother me though.

Congrats. I cut 1 1/4” off of the top of the front leg and mine is perfect. It only takes a minute. To me it was quicker than making a phone call.

I got it and you are right. I thought is a super expensive kettle (615$ new) I should give the customer service a try.
If no success there I can easily cut off the front leg or to save the hight (I am very tall and need every inch :-) ) I can install Mastertouch back-legs which are exactly 2" longer.
To be honest ... finally I am sure it will end up with a quick cut off :-)

I agree. It is an expensive grill and the problem should have been caught much earlier so I don’t feel sorry for weber on this one. They must have knowingly made thousands of these grossly out of level. They should have corrected the socket placement or resized the legs to correct. They had to have known as many that are out there with this problem. I used mine with a 1x6 sitting under the back legs for years until I cut the leg. I don’t like have to chase my sausages as they roll down the grill. [emoji3][emoji23]

On the first few years of the  newer 26.75’s (circa 2009-?) you can cut the leg at the top. On the newer ones that have the spring loaded legs, I’m pretty you sure you would need to cut from the bottom where it meets the ground.

Just make sure that the floor to triangle height distance is uniformed all around. So, the triangle will sit level in between the front and back wheel legs and the leg hole for the triangle front hook is not compromised.
