My 1st MLH woot woot
« on: November 04, 2017, 05:03:47 PM »
I found this on CL in Wisconsin for $40. Called a bbq friend here in FL who called his bbq friend in WI who promptly secured it for me. He took it to another bbq team at a contest in Green Bay who I would be seeing in Lynchburg TN at The Jack 3 weeks later. That was last week and i finally got to start cleaning on it today. I really like these mbh and thumbscrew kettles! This one has aftermarket wheels, so I am on the hunt for those. It also came with a twist on ash, and I think @harris92 said it should be a clip pan. If anyone has a cooker quality one for sale lmk please. I like the way the front bowl handle is not in line with the front leg. I like the square tab. I like that they're slightly heavier than today's kettles. The closest I can tell on its age is 1962, which makes it my oldest and also my birth year kettle. Lastly take a look at the triangle. It has been constructed wrong. Anyone seen that before?

Vents are stuck but it shouldn't be a problem to free them up.

Solid leg sockets all around.

Finally a Wood Dale. Love the square tab.

Love the misaligned handle. I've seen this before, maybe it's by design?

Check out this unique triangle. Someone messed up that day ;)

It's a feature, not a bug. It lets you pull it around, without tripping over the front leg!

Seen your triangle pic twice and don't know enough about them to see what's wrong?
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

The 3 V shaped rods should sit on top of the center rod when viewed from the top. Somehow these 3 V rods are attached to the underside of the center rod when viewed from above. It looks similar to an upside down triangle, except all of the rods are on the correct side of the axle rod. In the picture above it's upside down on the bench.

That looks like a bizzarro world triangle. Here's a pic from the 18.5 Wood Dale I picked up last week.

An MLH ehh?

Have fun burning the **** out of your hand! ;) j/k

Seriously, it looks really nice! A quality commercial penetrating oil (like Kroil) would probably free those bottom vents up in no time.

Can't wait to see this beauty in action!
