You can exchange that old 5# tank at Walmart. Just go in the garden area outside. Leave the tank there with someone to watch while you go in and tell the casher you have a tank outside to exchange. By the tank station.

You can get your tank recertification done for about 10 or 20 bucks at almost any propane company. Do not throw it away or replace. Google local propane distributors. Refill is about a buck a pound. Certification is good 5 years each time.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that WalMart (or anyone) has full 5lb tanks available for exchange. 15-20lb tanks, yes, but not 5lb.

If you do get a new tank you can get the quick disconnect for it.  And...if you go the new tank route (I'd try to get your old one certified if you can), Ace sells the right tank.  I wrote  a review on it, so you'll know you found the right one.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Will natural gas make the bark mushy?

This SSP that I restored for my older brother has a 20lb tank on it. I robbed the hose and tank scale from a junk Genesis gasser. Replaced the plastic casters with metal to help deal with the extra weight from the tank.  I don't have any detailed pics, but this one gives the general idea.

Not positive, but I believe you can use an adaptor hose for Gen2 or later Performers.

@Lemans @Joetee - How can you question that guys? No confusion..........pretty straight forward there....and after that is done there will be no more need for charcoal either.
