SS Chimney
« on: January 31, 2017, 06:24:26 AM »
I know, it's not Weber, and I got my last chimney for $8.00 on clearance, but I had not seen this one before and thought you might like to weigh in. FYI - this one weighs in empty at 6lbs.

Half price now: $37.49 I kinda like it...it's the Vortex of chimneys.

Oh wow....I think the shape is really smart and will help get the top goals going a little faster.  A little pricey especially considering how long lasting the weber chimneys seem to be, but I still like it.  I'm starting to run out of new gadgets to get so this might makes its way to the bottom of my short "I want" list.

I got the Stephen Raichlen one and I think it rotten away in one season...not saying that will happen to this...I did like the look of this.  On the other hand I have a giant non Weber round one I use almost every time and I have had it for ten years....

@MikeRocksTheRed , is this our next "group" purchase?...LOL
It totally makes sense, focus the heat to the top and all coals should get lit evenly, I notice sometimes the bottom coals are half gone before the tops are starting to ash.

It might be.  I currently have 2 regular weber chimneys and one compact.  I'm thinking I might need another chimney for hot cooks on my RK, so maybe this is actually needed right now!

@MikeRocksTheRed , LOL, thats what I was thinking, it'll take at least 4 chimneys worth of coals to bring the behemoth to temp...LOL  Looks like a SS chimney is in our future..LOL

That definitely intrigues my obsession with stainless steel accessories... might have to get one. Wonder how much charcoal it holds compared to the weber, since the base is wider but the top is narrower. Shipping is pretty expensive, $15.

I left a call to see if they want an official WKC Review. I will get one in any case and give it the once over.

I bought one, when I get it I can do a short comparison with the Weber chimney.
