Weber sales or price drops?
« on: July 08, 2014, 06:05:40 AM »
Hi everyone.

I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing a Weber kettle, most likely a OTG. I've been watching CL for the last month or so and when I spot something I want its been sold before I make contact with the seller.

Assuming I don't get something off of CL, is there generally a time of year that Weber might refresh their product lines and prices drop or a new version comes out for the same price? I'd hate to make the purchase and later find out that such a thing happens the first week of August or other relatively close time.
This is a fairly cheap hobby when you consider the time  with family and friends and how many meals are created.

I have not seen them on sale. I would shop online to possibly save on tax or use a Target or Lowes (or something similar) Card to save 5%.

Post your location, there might be someone on here that would part with one to help you out also.

Target usually puts all theirs on clearance in the summer so they have room for back to school stuff. At target they are seasonal. But target doesn't carry the OTG in store. You can go to your post office and pick up the moving kit and save 10% at lowes.

I'm in the Silver Spring, MD area and reading these forums I get the feeling there's lots of people watching CL in this area.

When I buy it'll be through Amazon just to get it delivered. My concern isn't so much saving the money (though a great deal via CL would be nice) its finding out that a new model with more features for the same or less might be right around the corner. (I'm in the IT world where this is a regular cycle)

If you are looking for a cooker, I am sure someone local-ish can hook you up to spread the Weber love .......

Huh, can't imagine who that might be...  :)  Welcome and yes, there's a number of us in the area.
You're in a good location as most of 'us' are in VA or the Bmore/Annapolis area.
But I've crossed the river a number of times to escort a colored kettle to my patio.  lol

No photo, but this sounds like a goodie.

I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Yeah, sounds good. I saw that post about 2 hours after the seller posted and sent him a text. He promptly responded someone was on their way out to look at it. However if that person doesn't buy it I'm next on the list...

Try picking up a black OTS for $20 to hold you over and get ready to pounce when you get the opportunity. The end of summer will bring a lot of grills to CL.

That $50 performer would be a great start for a collection

Welcome to the forums, Chuck!  (I'm in Falls Church, VA)   Bman is a true and trustworthy guide in all things Weber-- he will show you the way.

Unlike IT, Webers are old-school-  basically the same design since the 1950s.  They also rarely put things on sale, so with the exception of Target in the fall, you should either drop a dime at Amazon ASAP  or patiently wait for CL to give up the goods.  And yes, you are in a pocket away from the predatory superstar kettle collectors of the DC/NoVA/MD chapter, so you're in a position of strength.  ;-)

"the predatory superstar kettle collectors of the DC/NoVA/MD chapter,"

A verifiable sub-culture of Weber Kettle Club, for sure...................

The Lowes coupon can be used at Home Depot too.

Hey, just have the VA/MD guys agent for you and then pick it up at the next east coast meet. Easy!
