I have also a red ltd.
Never used as yet.
I need to check my lid tomorrow too.
It stands covers in my garage since Christmas last year!

Sent from my iPhone using Weber Kettle Club
Best regards,

I can push the lid off any of my grills.

I can push the kettles from under the lids on any of my grills... :)
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

I've got some, where I can push and the entire grill moves! Bowl and lid, together! True story.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

There won't be any additional "Special Edition" kettles in the foreseeable future.........

I've recently had reason to take the legs off of a few kettles and I have a new replacement bowl for my performer.

ALL OF THEM HAVE BARE METAL IN THE LEG SOCKETS.

I was extremely pissed when I got my LE red because of this very issue.  Based on what I have seen on my kettles and a few that I've seen with friends, this appears to have been like this for a very long time(if not forever).

That being said, I'm not as pissy about it as I was.  If this has always been like this, then it moves me to the "meh" column.

The rest of the issues, rim rash, large scratches/dents, etc... Are still BS and should be handled by Weber.  I don't know if they will or not as I have tried unsuccessfully to register my LE red four times now.

"ALL OF THEM HAVE BARE METAL IN THE LEG SOCKETS."

Well, my newer 22" kettles don't have that issue. They're coated. I have a crimson and a copper. Both are fine. Hmmmm...

All I know is, they are cooking machines!

Maybe I'm just lucky?  Like I said, I'm no longer concerned.  I put high temp BBQ paint in them as I found them.
