Well I for one will not have a Chinese made Kettle.....and I am a flippin' Canadian!!!!

I do have something most of us on this board do not though:

Adding Kettles at this point means either making room or moving a existing Kettle. For a Glen Blue, Westener, Green MBH, or True Grey.....yes. But for this? Come on. Really?

Are you typing this message from an American made computer?

Nice to have a new red but I'll stick with my old one.

I think they are missing the boat. Why not offer the ots in a few colors and get them to the masses?  I would think kettles in color would sell very well. Or they could produce one color a year and change that color each year to keep costs down.

Just went on Weber's web site your in luck, the produce not one but three colors, not just black, but green and copper......your lucky day.  Here's alink, you can see the copper.  I also saw a crimson today at Ace, not sure if they are still being produced, but you could prob find one pretty easy......

That's gonna be great.  I hope you will sell them.

The tiger maple handle I bought from you on eBay should be delivered tomorrow.  Really looking forward to seeing it.

At first I wasn't crazy about the look, but the idea of the Topper logo somehow makes it much more appealing. And I don't usually go for logo grills...
But I think with Topper, some of Brian's handles, and a silver ash bucket (instead of the black) it'd be a bad ass grill!
Oh, and also matching wood lid bale rollers. I guess I'd want to get rid of almost all the black. And a set of the older style wheels...
In the end for me though it'll come down to price

Jeff

First off, when this kettle is finally released, I will be in line to get one.  How long have we all been waiting for a true red to become available again?  AND with the iconic logo on it? Yes, right damn now I'll order it.
For those concerned about it having Chinese "finger prints" on it, I say don't assume anything. You don't know what Weber has been up to with color creations lately.  BTW...we all own a lot more Chinese stuff than we probably realize.
If you're still bothered by any of this...step aside.  There will be plenty of suitors to happily take your place in line.
I personally applaud Weber in their efforts to bring the true red back.  I'm positive there's a lot that has gone on behind the scenes to make this happen...more than all of us probably realize.
Haters will always hate.  Let's have at this grill!

Kettle collector AND cooker!

Good points Jeff!
Also, buy it for nothing else to encourage Weber to start making red a constant color in the product line.

I'd still have to see it in person however you're right. It's really cool that they are doing this. Hope it's the start of the colors of old.

So, @harris92 , do you know if they're just sending the bowls & lids offshore to enamel? or, are the complete grills going to be made offshore?

kettlebb

I think I know where you are going here Darko. The steel you make for the kettle is quality. What will the Chinese steel be like?

Thing is; right now we don't know what exactly is being done offshore. Maybe it's just the red enamel being applied. Maybe more. We just don't know.

As some state they want "made in the USA"... What exactly does that mean?  The bowls and lids are "formed" in the US from Canadian steel. The hinged grill grates are made in Taiwan, the regular grates & the charcoal rails are made in China. I don't know where the aluminum tubing for the legs comes from. There are many questions.

One question I would ask those that are decided not to buy the grill, because all of it is not made in the US.  How many of you have handles from Brian made of exotic wood that is not of American origin?

kettlebb

My statement earlier about the US manufacturing is that I'd prefer to buy US made products. Fact is it's hard to do these days. Honestly my biggest gripe is the taco handle. Makes the new red ugly.
