Estate sale rehead
« on: November 06, 2016, 02:45:49 PM »

Scored this redhead today at an estate sale for $20.

After a little clean up.

Love the interior bowl color.  It is beautiful blue/gray color and the contrast against the red is striking.

Has a blown tire. Anyone have a spare they would be willing to sell?

I am torn as whether to remove the cool old table the previous owner made or leave it on and restore it as is.  After all, "Every kettle has a story".  What is everyone's opinion?

Great clean up! Looks real pretty. I would also keep the table.  I would also try to save the wheel. Try cutting up some plastic to shape missing pieces on the back side and epoxying the tire together till you get a newer wheels.

Love that red and the hue to the inside of the bowl. Keep the table, she probably would feel incomplete if you didn't.

Thanks greenweb.  I will try that. I as hoping someone would chime in with advice on how to possibly repair it.  I would like to keep from having to put the newer wheels on it.

Love that red and the hue to the inside of the bowl.

Here is a comparison photo with the lid of another old redhead I have. Really shows the difference in color between the black and blue.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Part of the reason I am leaning towards leaving it attached.

That would be awesome Brian. Thanks.

Definitely leave the table. I am sure someone was very proud of that mod back in the day and it would be a shame to ruin their handiwork.

With this lid vent, the WKC chart indicates it would be 1971-1975.  It has small tab lid and bowl vents and the plastic wheels with rubber treads. Would this be closer to a 1971?
