Lime Green color comparison - can we say 70's Lime kettle.

To find out how close Spring Green is to 70's Lime Green.  For the record, I do not have 70's lime kettle, but found some comparison topic I can use.

First, the shade difference between Spring Green, Lime Green on SJ, and Grass Green on C&B Performer.  It gets couple of shade darker from front to back.

Here is Lime SJ and Spring Green comparison.




See how the Spring Green is couple of shades lighter. So, with much interest, I am finding that Spring Green color is almost exact or very close to 70's Lime.  Your results may differ slightly.

Actually, after re calibrating my eyes..... 70's lime seems to be just a tad lighter. Still very hard to tell.

Even back in the 70's, seems there were different shades of lime green. 




This one is even lighter than my other two but I didn't feel like dragging it out of the garage and carrying it to the upstairs Weber bedroom. I think this one is faded due to long term sun exposure.

Nice collection of 70's Limes.  I did know about lighter shade of lime on 18" but not on the second pic lime.  Very cool!

For the sake of direct comparison, I am comparing first pic. 22" Lime.

I totally agree. I still find it fun and informative to figure out where each color fits in.  I know there are some Green lovers out there who might find this interesting.

I kind of like that these differences exist and that carries over to over spray or the orange peel on some kettles. Kind of makes each one unique. Those are some nice greenies!

Even back in the 70's, seems there were different shades of lime green. 

Seems the earliest lime greens (1974-75) had a yellowish hue to them. I have a 22 lime that is the same shade as your 18. Seems by 1976-78 they were more vibrant/ more lime and less pastel (when compared)


Same could be said for yellows too....

Foreground 1973-74 yellow, background 1975 yellow.

Same grill, lighting does play a factor, but it's more yellowish in person

European Lime...Lady "DI" overcast skies

and I totally agree, different light conditions make this color change
at night with a flash

My lime 22 changes color when hot. It looks like a very dirty dishwater greenish yellow when screaming hot. Definitely a prettier color kettle when cold/at rest.

Thank you all for posting your beautiful lime. They all look great!  I especially like the 70's lighter shade lime with a thick orange peel finish.

I will be referring to my new style (taco handle) green as a new Lime. If anyone has a problem with that, let me know so I can change it if warranted.

I would also like to see a color change as Craig mentioned if anyone has pics to share.
