i ordered a tip top temp a couple days ago to use on my kettles. curious as to how it'll compare to my wsm with pitmaster iq110. if it works decently, i may part ways with my wsm and iq 110.

Don't get rid of the WSM. Tip top works there too. @mrbill

i know it does, but we have a small house with a small backyard(where my cookers reside) and baby #2 arrived 5 weeks ago, so space is at a premium. my wsm is an 18.5, i have 2 22.5 performers and a converted 18.5 Budlight kettle. if the tip top comes even close to the set it and forget it temp control of the wsm and pitmaster, i could clear up some patio space without loss of functionality and possibly increase it with another tip top to run both performers(or 1 performer and the budlight kettle) at the same time. i love my wsm and with the iq110, it's stupid easy to smoke stuff, but if i can get similar temp control via tip tops, the wsm and iq110 will essentially be a redundancy i could remove to free up space for chairs or charcoal/accessory storage.

Am I missing something. It seems like temp got to the 220's and stayed there for an hour or so and then started dropping?

He was only using 30 briquettes. Load a 18" WSM and let it rip for 12+ hours. @Darko

I don't have a WSM, so I'm wondering if this thing would work on a kettle, and be an improvement on the snake method? Or at least help to keep the temps more stable.
