I've got "Roswell".  And to answer your question, clearly these mothership style ranches sit low to the ground.  You can see the height relative to the limey 22 in the background.

In an ongoing relationship with a kettle named Bisbee.

I just picked one up off CL last Saturday. Paid $450 but it is in very good shape. Planning to post some pics later. Does anybody know were the date code is on the newer style ranch? It has a black top vent but I could not see a stamp?

You will find the date code on the lower vents.

Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

I'll bump my own thread here.  I own one as well, ...now. I didn't then, but now I do. Looking at the date when I started this discussion almost two years ago, I bought mine shortly after I started this thread. I only own two charcoal Weber grills and one of them is a Ranch Kettle. Mine is heavily, heavily modified. I have cut and sawed and chopped and added and subtracted every part of this grill.

To everyone out there who owns one of these: Put the Weber light on the handle like I did. It is the absolute best modification you can make. Here is the link to that discussion...

This is the original Weber kettle. The most powerful bbq grill in the world and can blow your taste-buds clean off! So, you have to ask yourself one question: "Do you feel hungry? Well, do you punk?"
