Those are indeed metal bowl handles.  This link will give you more information: http://weberkettleclub.com/determine-age-of-old-grill/.  A quick glance says that kettle should be from about the late 70s.

BC

Damn. Do I really need a second Weber kettle?? Damn!!
1981
The 1981 the metal bowl handles were replaced with wooden handles. During 1981-1982 the wooden handles also switched from the 2-rivet handle to a single screw.

In 1977, the wheels were changed to "the modern plastic 6″ wheels with the word "WEBER" cut into the whitewall that is seen on basic Weber kettles today."  That brownie also has a large tab damper vent and a flat edge ash pan.   I own a 1980 B Code MBH kettle that has a bent age ash pan.  Since the flat edge ash pan is older than the bent edge ash pan, I would still say this is from the late 70s.  Unfortunately, the damper vent and ash pan don't always tell the whole story.  The best way to accurately age a kettle seems to be by the "coding" on the damper vent.

Regardless of all that noise, at $25 you should be all over this one.

EDIT* Ah, I was just about to bring you into this one @SixZeroFour

BC

Okay. I see Santo explained it.

@BC  - I'd just go grab it.  If you come to find that you don't want it, @SixZeroFour will probably take it off of your hands!

Also by 1979 most, if not all kettles were supplied with a rolled edge pan. The Metal Bowl Handles were dropped in favour of wood so the presence of the MBH alone makes it pre 1981... Seriously go get this :)

Edit - I can't make out a date stamp - my guess is 78'

Looking for the 'How to hide another kettle from your wife' thread

MikeRocksTheRed

There are tons of them within a lot of "look at what I found" posts.

Here's the cliff notes version:

H:  I found a really good deal on another grill
W:  What do you need another grill for?
H:  blah, blah, blah
W: blah, blah, blah
H:  blah, blah, blah
W: blah, blah, blah
H: ok, ok, can we talk about you cleaning out some of your shoe collection
W:  how much is the grill
H: $25
W: (thinking "thats not even close to what I pay for shoes and maybe if I say ok, I can get the ok to get some new shoes") I guess one more grill would be ok.  I like the food you cook on it.
H: Thanks honey, what do you want for dinner.
