I was home today preparing for a test tomorrow...the type guys put off if they can.  Me and the Crane are friends today.  I had thought to do a family picture but that is too much work and I am too weak.  It was a very nice sunny day so I cut the lawn, did a little cleanup and got Lucille (K code redhead) and Peach out:

No solid food for me today so this is as close to good Q as I get:

The handles on Lucille are not quite finished.  They have been sanded then filled from behind with a mix of glue and sawdust due to deep cracking.  I stained them with gun stock twice to try and even out the colour then about 15 coats of satin spar.  I just kept adding more coats till the tops evened out.

The handles before I started in:

That's a couple of beautiful kettles you got there!

I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Beautiful kettles (especially the texture on Peach and that beautiful restore job on the handles), and I'm hoping for the best with your tests tomorrow, Hoss.  I've got a red K, and it's nowhere near as nice as yours.
One of the charcoal people.

Me too.  I just happened on the right light for that type of shot.  I figured it might look really cool with the dark background.  Wish I had a better camera...like L.B..  His pictures of Peach taken before I took her into my care are superior.

The texture on Peach is great.  I noticed this reflection in the ash pan today:

My neighbours must think I am nuts hauling bbqs around the yard taking pictures of them...sometimes from the top of a ladder!!!

Beatuies!  Seriously, amazing job on those handles.  They look like new.  Glue & sawdust?  Crazy.  I've gotta try that.
