Heyjude

What int he hell is that monstrocity?
Looks like its a Frankenweber..
How about some more close up pics of the igniter..
Is that a Weber prototype of its first modern gas grill?
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

Boy I must have missed this one, what area in MN was this listed on CL?
Is that a Performer kettle mounted on an old gas frame? I ask because if that's the same as the red Performer in the background, you could just verify that the igniter is hooked up correctly and you're getting gas through the burner tube.
I have some extra igniters you can have if that's what's needed...assuming my wife didn't do away with them in her fit of garage cleaning >:(

Heyjude

Its like someone took an old gas ketle and mounted it in a gasser table, ala performer..
I have never seen a brown SS Performer. So the brackets on the bowl are probably bolted or welded. Someone sure spent a lot of time makeing the table top..
One thing I never noticed on the gas kettle is the vented lid.. Is that how they were made or did someone punch those out?
Very interesting indeed. If you can't get the gas to work, you can always convert it to charcoal.

Is that what those are, vents on the lid? They look original, but I've never seen a Weber kettle lid like THAT before.
Funny, I just assumed the gas was for gas assist, not a gas kettle.

Greg, you have one unique kettle :D

glrasmussen

Sorry for the late response. It is gas, it is a performer head. I am not sure, but I think it must be similar in inside design to other Kettles mounted to a stand...Yes the hood is vented down by the lip. I will try to take better pics in the light.

The story is, this guy received it as a house warming gift. His buddie's dad was retired from Weber and it was stored in his Dad's garage. So he instead of buying a gift, he gave this grill to him.

Help me other Kettle gassers, but the gas head goes up for direct heat and below a pan for indirect heat.
Are yours the same?

Heyjude

I don;t have one to compare..  It sure is an odd duck. Could be a custom job made from parts that Weber had laying around.. One of the workers idea to spend the day.. Or its a prototype.
Intersting that it has a modern propane adapter..

It is crazy. I will get better pica when it is cleaned up. It has all Weber logos. Real wood trim and a wood handle with the logo.

Greg

Heyjude

I have no dobt its all Weber, but not a production item.. At least not one I have ever seen..

Can anyone tell me if this was production item?
I need some help with ignigter and hose. It also has a scale for the propane tank.

It is an odd igniter. But it actually works. It just won't ignite. I will clean out the bowl. But I am not sure how it comes apart ...it has tray in the bottom and flame is above for direct, then you can lower below the tray for indirect cooking.

Golly

It is the same gas version, but this is a performer kettle mounted to the cart.
I hope the one in Oz gets a good home.

Heyjude

Must be the elusive prototype for the original Touch N Go or now known as the Performer..Show us the brackets that mount to the bowl..Please.  8)

I will try to get some better pictures. The Brackets are the same mount as the Performers. Bolts to the frame.
Owner said it is Charcoal or Gas, but after inspection, I would not use charcoal in this. Can some that owns a kettle
gas that I have seen posted? Want to verify the burner situation, as the burner in up position is direct, the option is to
lower the burner and it cooks indirect. Pretty neat for its time. Would be nice to know the age of this. Has a S/N# beginning
A 59....all I can remember.
