Very First Time - Rotisserie Turkey
« on: November 26, 2021, 05:06:05 AM »
This was my first time, and will be my last time. Not a turkey fan, never have been.
The turkey was Ok. Did a modified snake method, smoking for just under 3 hours. It was juicy, having been beer-brined.
Should have put a Prime Rib Roast on instead.

Made gravy (another first), and it was very good.

The best part was my wife's signature Pumpkin Cheesecake...a real crowd pleaser!

Here are some photos:

I rotisseried a turkey breast this year came out great. I knew it was done when I found it in my drip pan!

Ha!  Pretty funny.  It must have been tender if it fell off the spit!

Yours looks great. I freaking love turkey and all of the leftover possibilities that goes with it.

Yes, we will be making smoked turkey salad sandwiches, those are awesome!
And, don’t forget the smoked turkey vegetable soup.

That turned out really well. Great job!

For a first timer, it did turn out pretty good.
My wife and I are not turkey fans, so this was an experiment. The kettle locked in at 260 F for the full cook time, which was perfect. It used very little wood (cherry) and B&B charcoal. So easy!

Making the gravy was another first. It turned out very good. The veggies in the pan were good also, but the onions and potatoes could have cooked a little longer.

Thanks!
