Tightening a lid vent.

Tried a search, but couldn't find anything about it. I'm cleaning up a AA code brick red performer for my daughters wedding, and after cleaning the lid and all the crud under the vent, the rivet is loose and the vent spins too freely.
Any tips on how to tighten it back so there's a bit of friction to hold the vent in position?
I'll post pics when the restore is complete.
