Suggestions Needed: Ash Pan for a 26" Daisy Wheel

I'll be picking up my 26" Brownie from G$ soon and I thought I should get ahead of the game and figure out what to do for an ash pan until I find the correct one.

If I go with a modern replacement, are they the same size as a 22"?

Anyone use something else like a pizza pan or bucket that looks ok?

I'm open to suggestions.

Honestly, I think the best way to go would use the standard new ash pan with the clips.  That will look the most normal.  I'm assuming you want to get back to as close to original as possible.  The twist pans are impossible to find.  I have seen a few others use the standard pan and it looks pretty good...

.....is slightly larger than the standard pan for the 22" kettle.  However, it still doesnt seem to catch all the ash from the older style kettles with 3 vents in the bowl.

Here's mine. First pic is with a 22 twist. It is sitting down lower "untwisted" on the legs with the clips. It will fit when it's "twisted" into place but it sits too close to the bowl and the daisy wheels sit outside the pans diameter.



2nd pic, with the 26 ash pan from Ereplacement parts. Took them 3 months to send it to me. They were on back order.

Probably not that long.  20 minutes to cut the circle, leg holes, and smooth the rough edges. 20 minutes to roll it on the wheel.  20 minutes to bead roll it.  With a thin gauge aluminum it is actually pretty easy. 

I will see if I can find some aluminum sheet and shape one up.  I know the one on my 35 year old redhead is looking pretty well worn.  I will post some pics.  probably won't be for a couple of weeks.  Trying to get my kitchen finished and the wife will kill me if I start another project before hers is done.

The one possibility I can think of is to have  a bit higher end automotive metalworking shop fab one up........someone with an English wheel:

 Personally, I think all the 26's should have custom made larger ones.......even the pans that came w/ them don't seem to be big enough to cover the area where the ash drops out......

English wheel.......simple, so easy even girls can do it ~~~>
