First cold-spell in MN
« on: November 22, 2013, 09:09:39 PM »
Well, the time has come to hunker down for the next 4 or 5 months.  This weekend is the first semi cold-spell here in MN, but that didn't stop me from grilling up some classic burgers  8)

Not very many great pics, but hey...my fingers were cold!

One of the benefits of covered cookers. I get a kick out of those who talk about grilling season. It looks like grilling season in MN is any time you can make it out the door.  ;D

It's 18 here right now at 2:30 pm. Lows tonight around zero. Man I wasn't ready for winter!

53°F here right now. But it won't last long. We drop below freezing tomorrow and don't expect temps to go above for about a week.

Nice looking burgers.  At first glance I could not see your bowl of the 22 kettle.  So your SMJ looked like it had two sets of legs.

SMJ's are great / efficient burger machines.

Thinking about cooking some mojo pork on the WSM or my new Hasty Bake ROT.  It would be approx -3 when I start on Sunday.

That would be the coldest temp I have cooked in.  That's way below our winter normals here.

Dress warm when you head out to check things! This is the time of year when it is really nice to have a remote reading thermometer for long cooks.

I did a batch of Pepper Stout Beef on the 14 WSM and another turkey on the rotisserie yesterday. It was 17°F which is positively balmy compared to below zero!

Some great looking food for being produced in cold weather! I'm thinking roti bologna tomorrow myself.

Wow ... That is cold! Here in central Ontario, it usually doesn't get like that until January.

Stay warm ... and, cook on!!  :D 8)
