Bought my first vintage kettle today
« on: June 27, 2019, 08:00:03 AM »
From an estate sale. $45 and about 45 miles. Maybe you fine folks could help me identify the year. It says "pat pending" on the vent, so I think that means 69-72?

Edit: I'm trying to post pictures, but it's not working.

Beautiful first vintage kettle!  Patent pending with metal wheels/rubber tread makes this a 69-70.   Looks to be in good shape.

Yes.  Based on the wheels, perhaps a bit more likely that it was made in the earlier part of that range.

Yep! Patent Pending Texan that’s fading nicely. That will be a great cooker!

When you say Texan does that refer to the color or something else?

It’s the specific model name. Black 22’s from the 60’s and 70’s are known as “Texan’s.”

Gotcha, thanks. I didn't realize it was black either.
