Schleping a kettle to the beach
« on: June 01, 2014, 07:31:15 PM »
Every year around this time, the extended family does a beach day a little south of Half Moon Bay, CA.  This year I thought I'd take a kettle.  Originally, the plan was to take my one and only logo grill.  It's a super clean 18" Guinness.  I don't even drink Guinness but for $10, I didn't hesitate.  It was going to be the "traveler".
Anyway, last night my bro-in-law says since I'm bringing a kettle, he's leaving his Weber Q at home.  I thought about it and decided to bring a 22 redhead instead for more grill space.

Here was the challenge.  Only a tiny path with a drop to the beach.  This is a hidden beach.  No signs or anything.  You have to know where it is to find it.

Kettle assembled and firing up:

Some of the meat.  Tri tip, Italian sausage and dogs.  Not pictured were salads(you know it!), an assortment of cheese, smoked salmon, sourdough baguettes, grilled veggies, wine / beer, etc.

Random pics of rock formations (someone balanced a bunch of rocks) and the ocean.  Looking west, the next land is Hawaii, LOL.
It stayed overcast but was really warm.

It was a little bit of work but well worth the effort.  The kettle(s) will be traveling more often this Summer!
