MBH restoration

I recently completed my first restoration and I wanted to share it with you guys. I really enjoyed this project. I started by scraping it out and using 0000 steel wool on the inside. Then I polished and cleaned all the aluminum with a combination of mothers mag polish, steel wool and dremel tool. I went back and forth on doing the pam treatment because I do like the gray look but ultimately I opted to try it. The dampers were all in decent shape and turned well, the bottom three needed a little coaxing back to shape. I hand painted the white walls with some model paint I had. I wanted black wheel nuts but couldn't find them locally so I used white wheel nuts I got from Tru-Value. I was going to order some black wheel nuts but after I put the white ones on I decided I kind of like them. I got the leg cap from Tru-Value as well, it's little more heavy duty than the stock ones. Had to put new grates in it as well, the old ones were perished. The ash pan could use some more polishing work and I might put some sealer on the wood lid handle which is in good shape after a little cleaning.

The Pam treatment....? I read about that once, on a forum, . I can't believe it got that black!! Can you elaborate just a bit on how you did the treatment? I have an exact problem with my gray, er, uh, black kettle.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!! SlickedBack, I read about the pam treatment here on the WKC and thought I would try it. I liberally sprayed a paper towel with pam and wiped it on adding more pam as needed until it was covered. I used 0000 steel wool on the outside first. From what I have read it doesn't last forever especially if you leave it outside uncovered. I have not cooked on it yet, I imagine that will change it a bit too. If it begins to fade again I would think another application would darken it back up.
