White Whale Restoration: The Plainsman

Been trying to finish up the multiple grill projects I've got going on before it gets colder around here. One of my favorites is finally done. The infamous white whale. This is the grill at the center of some controversy and the inspiration for a couple heated threads.
Some of the best here at WKC.

http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/kettle-club-discussions/new-question-(no-pics-at-all)/
I will say this, regardless of whatever "wild west" situations that have taken place, I have experienced ten times the amount of folks that spread the kettle karma around. Point being, these free for alls are the exceptions to what really goes on here. No way I could have finished this project without the help and support of people here.
Now for some pics of the restore
Bottom was clean, all the thumbscrews are rusted into the leg sockets, but for some reason they were never tightened down. When I took the legs off, they slid right out.
Thanks Brian for the whitewalls
ready for cooking
Thank you Dazzo for the ashpan. One day I will track down the older style, but for now it'll work.
Here's Harris92's catalog shot of it.
Overall, it's a total piece of Weber history, and now it is ready to cook at a moments notice. I promise not to cook test monkey brains on it....

There's nothing plain about that plainsman! Thanks for giving it new life and sharing it with us.

NICE Ash Pan!!!
Can someone explain the difference between the one you have, and an "older one" as shown in the catalog. I'm missing something here.
The only ones I'm familiar with are...
-Triangle tray
-Twist-on straight edge
-Twist-on rolled edge
-Clip-on

Chronologically speaking:
-Triangle tray
-Non twist on with U cutouts hinged clips*
-Twist-on straight edge
-Twist-on rolled edge
-Clip-on
*Here's Jeff's pic from his wood dale thread
Is there one with U cutouts but with normal leg clips as well?

Great pics! I love the shading on bowl and lid. I'm sure it looks even more impressive in person. Well done! And I'm sure test-monkey brains have been well marinated and would taste just fine when properly grilled on that beauty.

We have copies of the 1963 catalog, but this is not listed in it, I wonder if it's older, I think that poster is not to be taken as gospel....
