Wheels for EARLY Wooddale and Weber Bros kettles
« on: August 13, 2021, 06:15:40 AM »
I recently found an early Woodale kettle, but the previous owner had replaced the wheels with something too modern.

Remembering that a local friend had helped me with wheels for the Orange Speckle 18" (Thanks Greg!) I looked for the same wheels for this kettle.  Turns out they were training wheels from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Little-World-Stabilizers-Compatible-Pair-Stronger/dp/B07MSGD8PB/ref=pd_ybh_a_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NRNZ9051535EVJZ38ATM

Here is what they look like out of the package:

I painted them a creamy white figuring that would match the 'patina' look of the kettle, but that ended up looking too new.

So I sanded off some of the white paint with 220-grit sandpaper and gave them a bit of overspray with some spray paint to make them look aged.  It seemed to work.

While these wheels aren't an exact replica, they do fit the look quite well.  I hope this is helpful for anyone looking for wheel options for these early kettles.
Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.

Sweet Wood Dale, @Art! That's not a bad substitute on the wheels.  Much, much better than what was on there when you got it!

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a caddywhompus utility tray.  Between this and the "Performer dad" on that Facebook group, it's been a week of caddywhompus firsts...

@Craig, were you looking for some wheels still?

Nice find Art!   The restore turned out great. I’d say those wheels look pretty close to the originals.  [emoji1303]

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Nice work on giving those wheels a vintage, aged, patina look.  They look great Saxart.

Yeah, I don't think I've seen one of those utility trays installed upside down.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Awesome grill and great work on the wheels, they look fantastic.

Im hoping to be able to find one of these grills to go with my 2 other 50s weber kettles.

Would be very interested if you ever were considering selling.
