Howdy from Arizona
« on: July 17, 2020, 03:28:57 PM »
Hi All, I hope this gets to the newbie section, having a hard time figuring out how to post.  A few years ago I worked at our local VFW and they had a grill that had been sitting there for years.  I asked my manager about it and she said: "oh hell you can just have it".  One of the customers brought it home for me and after sporadic searces, over the years I have finally found a ballpark idea of what model it is.
It is a Weber Westerner!!!  There was no coal grate, so a friend of mine cut me a 19 1/2" expanded metal grate for it.  Still has original cooking grate, but no ash pan.

I swear, when I score a great deal on a 26" I'll stop buying grills... So often.

Thank you for all the warm feelings and welcome.  I was wondering if there is a way to tell the age by the handle???  It's got the metal handle so it predates the one in the forum chat about the 1965-66 Westerner.  Silly me I'd kinda like to say it's the same age I am, I was born in '59 and saw that these were first introduced in '58.  I'd also like to find an ash pan to get it to look kinda/sorta like it did in the day.

Thanks a Million,
Ivey
