I decided to jump on the http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/trading-post/modern-26-in-virginia-$125/ , thanks for posting @michaelmilitello . The ad said it had only been used 4 times but that was clearly a lie. No matter, I got it home and went to work on cleaning it over the weekend. It's a dual code 2013. It turned out really nice and I'm excited to add it to the grilling fleet alongside my Gen 2 Performer and large BGE. I had planned on buying a SnS XL for it but I've learned through emails with Adrenaline Barbecue the XL has been discontinued. Probably for the best as I ended up doing @56MPG basket mod for $2 out of pocket in hardware.

The ash sweeps while functional are really hard to turn even after disassembly, cleaning, bending so I have new ones headed my way. Once those and a cover get in I'll be putting this grill into the rotation.

Really looking forward to the added real estate. Love my Performer but there's times it's too small for what I want to do.

Awesome score, looks just like mine until you cleaned it LOL
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Firemunkee

Nice clean up! Can you use your southern charm and get me some things from Weber too? Lol

Maybe some day. There's a saying about teaching a man to fish that applies here

Man you wasted no time using that thing food looks delicious. Are the sweeps you ordered the regular 7444 ones?

I was impatient and used it with the sweeps it has. For grilling you don't really need a lot of control in the bottom vent. I ordered 63046. They're specific to the 26 because they're longer. What's interesting is if you look on Weber website at the 26 kettle under specifications it says Stainless Steel one touch cleaning system. I'd love it if the ones I ordered were SS but not holding out hope.

@Firemunkee Quick update on the sweeps. .don't have the new ones yet. But the current ones a magnet gets sucked right onto them. What I did find though is the sweeps aren't the main culprit. It's where the handle for the sweeps goes through the upper part of the ash catcher assembly. The H drive forces the handle up against the top of mine. That's why it's so difficult to turn the sweeps unless I push down on the handle first.

Turns out this is a common complaint: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/forum/grills-and-smokers/charcoal/kettle-cookers/510752-weber-26-kettle-ash-sweep

Thanks for the update! I also checked my 26 sweeps and magnet stuck to them as well. Not th case for my 18 OTG sweeps, which I know are SS.    On a related note, I have the Weber Style grill utensils that are supposedly SS, but a magnet sticks to them as well.

While it has been mentioned before, there are various grades of SS some of which a magnet will stick to and others they will not.

I've found that despite being discolored, a close inspection revealing the lack of any discernable evidence of rust is usually pretty telling.  While a magnet is not attracted to some of the SS sweeps I've pulled, it is attracted to some of the others.  So far anyway, all the SS sweeps I have pulled have handles that a magnet does not stick to.

So I got the 63046 sweeps in and I can't tell them apart from the 90720 I ordered as backups for the 22. As far as I can tell they're both stainless 430 but that's just my uneducated guess. Same length too. 63046 on left 90720 on right.

Was there a difference on price?

Yep the 63046 intended for the 26er $24.38 vs 90720 @ $30.56. Maybe you're paying extra for them to remove the two dimples on each blade of the 63046. My guess is those are identifying marks for their warehouse.
