A Weber Adventure PIC HEAVY
« on: June 11, 2019, 10:10:54 AM »
Big THANKS to @captjoe06 for finding this. Couldn't have gotten it if it wasn't for him. He spotted it.

Is finding grills like this considered Weberitis? LMAO Just kidding. This was taken upon picking up
So a few weeks back a few of us are chatting when @captjoe06 posts an ad that was in Maine.
He couldn't get to it and I reached out to the woman. Ad was up for 6 minutes. This was the picture in the ad. I could just make out the thumbscrew in the picture.

I asked for a few more pictures and was sent these 2.

She explained there was no spit or motor. I was good with that.
Now this grill is in Maine and I'm in NY. I Google it at 325 miles and 6 hours OW.
It was on an Island off the coast that you drive over bridges to get to. As @JEBIV said,"the scenery is worth the price of admission". LOL So I tell her I can be there by 9AM as I like night driving as there's less traffic. I get up at 2:30 AM and I'm on the road by 3. Well I planned it perfectly as I hit NO traffic on the whole 650 miles RT. What a drive! The scenery was spectacular but unfortunately before the season started. The trees were just budding in late May. So it was 16 miles off the coastal road US 1.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cliffhanger,+Harpswell,+ME+04003/@43.7240423,-69.9973678,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4cad7becaa8cc6cb:0xf0fcba508d627447!8m2!3d43.7240423!4d-69.9951791

You can see it here. What a place. I arrived to meet a couple in there early 70s. It was a family compound of a few houses. She explained her father bought it in the Mid 60s and has always been there. They couldn't find the motor and spit but will keep looking for it. I asked if I could take a few pictures
of the grill before leaving and she encouraged me to.

Only scars on the bowl

So I pack her up safely and start the trip back. I arrive home at 3:15 for a total of 12:15 RT.
Worth the drive in many ways. One of the coolest places I've gone on a Weber adventure.
A few pictures of it at home as well.

Thanks Again Joey.

Love those scenic Weber road trips, well worth the price of admission
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

My family rented a house on Bailey Island.  Beautiful place.  My brother lives in Brunswick.

Beautiful grill too!
