Platinum Appreciation Thread - The twin-table kind
« on: May 24, 2019, 04:42:58 PM »
Cooked on my Platinum tonight, and just want to show some love for the oft' forgotten classic four-leg twin-table Weber. Over 34" to the rim of the bowl. Over 5" taller than the old MT that snuggled up to it after the cook. At 6'4", the height is just so right for me. I know other models were called Platinum, but this one was truly different. I feel like a line cook at the Weber Grill in Chicago - flipping the lid back on the rollers, cracking it a bit for more heat. So how many colors did they make this in? I've seen a brick red, and black of course, but did they ever make this model in another color?

How many of these do we have in the club? How many want one? Hey @zavod44 @GrillGiant how about a custom wood front handle?

Here's one in the brick red:

My buddy has one. He is also tall. He has several other Webers as well but the brick red platinum is his favorite to use.  I would get a 26 version if they made one.

Black and Brick Red were only colors offered. Truly one of a kind with a slide back and flip up lid system.

Here is my custom Green.

Funny, I was about to say I've only seen black or brick red, but then suddenly remembered a Canadian had a green one, so I was about to search to see if I could figure out who it was.

@HoosierKettle , there is at least one out there...
I had a chance to buy this about 4-5 years ago, but too much $$.
Belonged to GaryS before he retired and moved away.
In retrospect, I should've dropped the money and maybe avoided this "collecting" thing...

I wouldn’t mind one, at a great price.  I think I’d like the extra height and the side tables.  Maybe it would give my daily driver performer a run for its money.

@MacEggs , I've regretted not buying that one too - many times. It's a beast and he didn't scrimp on any detail.

I want one really bad. With a wood handle and matching side tables.

The damper is in the center of the lid on these too right? I could see that opening up a different cooking option than the standard lid too. Idk

I got red one a few weeks ago. Wanted to use it as a Pizza kettle but the front handle does not work to well with a pizza ring. It is getting too hot. Raised the legs lf the blue kettle instead and use that for a pizza kettle.

I'd be afraid to use anything other than a black kettle for pizza because of the high temps.  Wouldn't want to ruin one of the colors.
