Finally scratched an itch

Pulled the trigger.  Haven't done a pre seasoning yet.  Can't wait to start toying with charcoal baskets and other mods.

Amazing how huge the grate looks compared to that 22".  That girl needs a good cleanup now that I can give it some TLC.

I don’t think I could ever part with my 26. They are just amazing cookers . Sometimes I cook on it when I don’t need even a quarter of the space , I just really like cooking on it !!!

Thanks guys for input with the decision. Sure a Summit charcoal would have been awesome but I’ve been seeing great results smoking meats on my old 22” kettle.  So this 26” will be a fun upgrade

Any tips or tricks for the transition?  My old lid was a bit tweaked so it did have leaks when I didn’t get the lid back on just right. Happened more during normal cooks as I would flip or tend to the cook. I know it contributed to possibly a higher consumption of charcoal due to more air intake but will the 26” use considerably more charcoal to produce the same temps?

Any mods you guys think really enhanced the everyday performance that are must haves?  Down the road I have a list of things I would like to make or build for it. Wanted some input from those that have time using this thing.

Should be fun learning this monster.

You’ll love the 26!

It will use a little more coal but you won’t care with the extra capacity.  It behaves like a 22.

The only trick I’d suggest is for low and slow cooks.  The snake method works excellent and you don’t give up much real estate.  It’ll take more hot coals to start it than a 22.

Does it seem strange not to have a date code stamped on my 26” top vent?

If you got this grill used the original owner had the lid replaced.
