Bacon
« on: September 15, 2018, 07:48:53 AM »
Feeling more adventurous this weekend.  Trying out the basic maple bacon recipe on amazingribs.com

Pork belly is from Costco.   We will see in about week how it comes out.  [emoji241]

Finished product af

Smoked with hickory to 145 on the EE red.  Our dog was digging the smell!

Fried up a test slice....homemade is definitely worth the time and effort.  [emoji16][emoji1303][emoji241]consumes before picture.

That is one pretty piece of pork belly. It always shocks me how expensive pork belly is.

Nine pound slab was $25.  3 for bacon and six will go to pork belly burnt ends another weekend.

I guess that’s not as bad as what I thought. Try a bite before the sauce phase of burnt ends. It is excellent!

That's a pretty belly! Warning: You will never buy bacon at the store again.
