The heat diffuser feature is a great idea and should work great at lower temperatures such as 250F and below.  It will not work very well for hot n fast smoking at 275-325F. The heat diffuser being so thin and so close to the charcoal grate will get too hot and start smoking at higher temperature from the oily drippings.

So we make fire in new Master Touch. By us is called Master Touch GBS SE E-5775 .  The new diffuser is OK, but it is still only single-side kettle.  The charcoal Summit is realy different :)  See  some pictures

I´m a little embarrassed with the  lid removable construction ...  http://blog.grilykrby.cz/recenze-kotloveho-grilu-weber-master-touch-gbs-se-e-5775

I think they could've done without that handle and hinge. The lid and bale design works for me, also would've given better versatility for 2 zone cooking. They could've saved some money without designing the new hinge and handle to offer better price.

The people at Weber obviously don't cook on these things. Or they sure don't cook like I do. Make some retro twist ash pans and sell the heck out of them as an accessory. How about some black replacement handles like on the limited red for folks to use on their older kettles. I got enough kettles and don't need more gizmos. I smoke two zone so don't need no diffuser. Bring the China facility up to quality and produce some beautiful yellow, blue, brownie kettles. Without all the add-on junk to jack up the price.

Besides that I would re-drill the lid and swap hinge and handle. Figure something out to use or plug the extra holes. Use it and not collect in original condition.

Oh, and the handle. There goes the theory of Weber trying to keep us safe. Better to have fire at back. That short handle next to the fire?

What if you did a two zone with the vent over the fire? Would it smoke good? Have to try it on one of my oldies. Maybe Weber does cook on em.

Or, put a charbasket on opposite side so vent and therm. are 45 degree each side. Might be a good cooker if you really are sold on the hinge.

I wonder if the hinge can be retrofitted to a WSM.[emoji848]

Take a look at the assembly guide for the 5775, the drawings in the PDF are the most detailed pics I'v seen of the hinge. It looks like it'll fit with a little bit of bending to the mount.

The so-called "igrill bracket" doesn't seem like a very good design.
To me, it looks like it holds your beer too close to the grill.
Your beer will get warm too quickly unless you are a really fast drinker.

My take... leave well enuff alone. Don't need any of this new chit. The old design works wonderful...
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.
