.... meet Miss Jackie Black named after Jackie the seller.
I responded to the fb marketplace add last night at the 11 minute mark... told seller I was interested but would not be able to pick up until today. Seller responded and stated that she would in fact hold for me. When I woke this morning I reached back out to make sure she hadn't Susaned me, she responded within the minute that the grill was still mine if I was still interested. I let her know that I'd be headed her way in a couple of hours after grabbing my youngest from preschool. After a half an hour drive I met the seller at her house and we talked Weber's and I was told she was the original owner and that it was a wedding gift to her. I politely stopped her and stated that it looked to be a very well maintained 74 to 76 kettle to which she responded she was married May of 75 how did I know the age. I told her I collected and restored vintage kettles and showed her pics of my current kettle family and some of my cooks.
Her original ad was for $25 but she was so happy it was going to a good home that she let me have it for $10. She informed me she had recieved about 30 messages from others offering more and immediate pick up but that she told them it was pending pick up... prior to leaving after a very nice chat she gave me a hug and asked I share restoration pics with her when I got a moment. She has seen the pictures and was tickled to see the love I have given the old kettle. She will go straight into rotation tonight for a vortex wing cook.
