My first Zav's...Imported from Canada
« on: January 25, 2018, 11:39:09 AM »
Once upon a time a nice man named @greenweb  from Ontario noticed the cheap hideous plastic handles on my red and grass green ssp's. So being a generous guy he is, he sent me not 1 but 2 Zav's handles.   With the handles coming from him, i had  no choice but to re-shape the taco assembly "greenweb style". Just slapping it on doesn't cut it.  So after an hour of cutting and reshaping, the handle is ready.  I'm so satisfied with the result that I'm contemplating installating a taco handle on the grass green. No idea what kind of wood they are but it sure does made a huge difference.
Thanks @greenweb!

Looks great.  I really like your slight re-working of the "Greenweb style" taco handle.

Thanks. It's a simplified version. Actually took me less than 30 minutes to reshape and complete the process. Next time i should be able to do it in 10 minutes or so.

Nice work on the handle strap. Much cleaner looking than mine. Both performers look great!  Birds Eye Maple and Zebra wood. More than happy to return some favor back.

Zav wood rocks. I have several.

I like what you did with the taco handle strap. If you decide to market them, I'll be your first customer!!
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

Couldn't be any happier with the Zav on the reshaped  taco assembly. I find myself staring at it. Looks even better in person than on the photos. The strap is not perpendicular being it's  spaced roughly 4 1/8" at the top and 4 3/4" at the bottom.  It has a very subtle but yet noticeable outward slope to it which is very pleasing to look at. Will definitely be reshaping my other tacos.  The only adjustment I'll be making is to lower the handle by maybe 3/8"-1/2".  The Zav handle and strap reshaping is a @greenweb brainchild so all credits goes to him.

Sorry brother but you'll never see me marketing these  new and improved tacos anytime soon. First of all, it's a very easy modification. Just cut, bend and drill. Not including sanding and polishing the strap, it should only take 15 minutes or so. Second, this is a @greenweb invention.
Other than that, it makes you wonder what weber's designers were thinking when they concocted this design. This modified version uses less material and definitely cheaper to manufacture.
