Any guesses at how long per pound to smoke a chuck roast at 225?

When I have done them in the past in has been pretty similar to pork shoulder. Last one I did was on for 11 hours.

I've only done 1 chuck roast and I'd agree with Josh G. Mine was on between 4-5 hours and it wasn't that great. I don't think I gave it enough time to really break down the fat and connective tissues. I'm willing to try it again though!

Check YouTube. There are several good videos on chuck roast. I want to say I average between 5-7 hours.

I’m actually thinking of doing one on my WSM too. I’d suggest a thermometer so you don’t have to “guess.” Have you ever considered cooking a little hotter than 225?

I was going to cook to temp. Just trying to figure out if I would have a big enough time window. Thanks everyone.

Here is my experience with chuck...
I cant believe it takes that long to cook a 3.5# roast...
But damn is it worth every minute...
I have had 3# chuck cook for 9 hours before...And it was fantastic...

Smoke Freak that helps me out a lot too. I thought there was no way this little roast is gonna need more than 5 hours! BS. It was a bit tough and needed more time. Anyone ever do burnt ends from a chuck roast?

I do chuck roasts quite often and very seldom go over 5 hours total time for my pulled beef.
Here are some on my Ranch kettle.
Ready for the freezer.

My only experience with chuck roasts are that they are not as forgiving as pork shoulder if your temp spikes too high. I would just be careful when it comes to temp, but otherwise cook it like a pork shoulder.
