Top Vent Slop
« on: July 15, 2017, 06:18:17 PM »
I got a used performed deluxe the other day.  Love it.  Made some T-bones and armadillo eggs today and noticed that the top vent is sloppy and rotates when I open the lid.  I don't want this to happen on a long smoke when I  get it dialed in.  Any recommendation on how to address this.  Snaking baby backs tomorrow and need a quick fix.  Thanks in advance.

mine was really bad, like move in the wind bad. used a 1 inch ss carriage bolt, rounded the square keeper. and then used a ss washer and wing nut to keep her tight and adjust the tension

Wedge a toothpick lightly between the lid and vent. That will keep it from moving during smoking.

I don't know why top vents get fucked up. Drives me crazy. My old wsm finally gunked up and is fine.  Good advice here. Got a picture?
