Finally sprung for roti
« on: April 11, 2017, 03:03:16 AM »
A weber one is on order.  I noticed it says it no longer comes with or needs a counter weight. Does anyone have experience with the no counter weight version?  I'm not sure when this change occurred.

Mine works fine, spins the food very smoothly. I love it, it gets used a lot.
Here's a top round roast I did Sunday.

Imo, every kettle user should have a roti. They're a lot of fun and make great food.

I haven't read where anyone hasn't loved having a roti so I have known for a long time I was going to get one. I feel bad for not buying a Cajun bandit. That was my preference but I got sucked in by amazon prime and fast shipping.

Darn. I probably would have received the cb for this weekend. That's alright. I'll probably buy the 18 for the wsm at some point.

Mine has been working fine, without the counterweight, for the better part of two years without a hitch.
In fact, I'll be spinning a yard bird tomorrow afternoon.

I ordered one off Amazon a few days ago and it was on the porch today when I came home for lunch.  I was thinking chicken as my first cook this weekend but that top round looks amazing.  Anxious to start playing around with it and see what all it can do.

How do you do 2 chickens with one set of forks or is it possible?  I thought about running bamboo skewers between chickens then forks on each end. Will this work?

@HoosierKettle, totally do-able with just one set of forks... arrange them "butt to butt" and use onion halves in each cavity to stabilize and center the rod.  Don't forget to truss them well.

I generally always spin two at a time to maximize fuel usage; one gets eaten that night, the other becomes chicken salad, and both the carcasses become soup.

Good luck and have fun with your new toy.
