Weber or Not?
« on: April 01, 2017, 02:16:07 PM »
I received these pictures from my friend. The kettle is on an old ranch in Ash Fork, AZ, that belonged to my friend's grandfather.
He is picking this old thing up and taking it home, and I will help him with some parts from my bone pile.
He said that he couldn't make out any engraving or stamping on the lid vent.
Do any of you know of a way to tell who built this from what we see in these pictures?

Thanks!

The two rivet lid handle, small vent tab go together, but not with a two rivet bowl handle. I believe when the wood bowl handles were made in 81', it was a single screw. Before that, they were metal. Maybe  a mismatch of some sort? And those legs seem really spread out. I'd replace the legs and it would be a great camping grill.

but it does have thumb screw legs. maybe a wood handle added later? I'd grab it if it's the right price. why not?

Guessing it's a Happy Cooker. The sharper stamping of the lid suggests it. HC did double rivet, wood handles originally. The steel legs are also an HC thing.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I was thinking Happy Cooker, too.
There is a story with this thing, so it is definitely being rescued. I won't see it up close for another couple of weeks.
I have enough legs, grates and handles lying around to make it cook.
When I do, I will update this post.

Leg spread looks like broken welds on leg sockets or just bent legs.  It's hard to tell without a bottom shot.

I'm pretty sure that's a HC. They also came with wood handles and the vent looks off for a Weber.
