That's why I questioned who you talked to because that just dont add up to me.  If it is on the national ad campaign they have to order early My guy orders the bulk of his Christmas lights next month for example.

Maybe they preordered what they feel is enough I cant answer that

If you want this grill I'm sure you will be able to get it.  Most of us on this site are probably the only ones who know about this thing.  The everyday normal people have no idea about this grill.  A lot of you guys are asking your local dealers about it and they have not even heard about it.  We are the ones who will be at Ace and our local dealers the day it comes out.  Most likely you will be the first one to buy one.  I'm not worried about getting one of these at all.

That is a question I can not answer.

What I can say is that "my little birds" told me that there will be an official announcement from Weber forthcoming.

Right, in August.

For the record I'm not worried, I'm fascinated with seeing how it plays out.

I do believe the truth lies in a mix of all our speculation.

Here's my speculation:

Patio World jumped the gun releasing what wasn't supposed to be leaked and was overwhelmed with people who called in and got on "the list".

When others called their respective Alliance dealers, they made calls to their sales reps, were probably not too happy with Patio World and , again speculating here that Patio World may have got a little gruff from Weber, hence their lengthy statement about wanting to give other Alliance dealers a chance to take orders.

Meanwhile the local dealers who were getting calls from enthusiasts like ourselves are probably thinking "Fuck this, I'm going to take orders too if some guy from the opposite coast can take orders and my prospective customers credit card info, then I'm taking orders."

Further speculation:
There will be some big box stores that ARE pre-ordering a bunch and are telling prospective customers that they're not taking orders till August because they don't even have SKUs for those units but know that there will be a bunch rolling around in their system, much like how Ace still has some Brick red left that was probably a special order that they thought would be long cleaned out by now.

All total guesses on my part and I'm not worried in the least.  The only way I'd be supremely disappointed is if I passed on a Canadian MT Ivory in part to support this USA effort to bring colored grills and it not actually be a bright red or have the lid catcher.

I'm not worried, just fascinated to see how Weber USA will in the end and knowing what we do know, treats it's Alliance Dealers.

Went to my local Ace showed them the screen shot they found it in the system. They couldn't take my money because it's not available the owner said I was the third person who came in knowing about this grill and not to worry. They have my name and number.
So far there are two places that we know about that will have these grills with not one peep coming from Lowes or Home Depot we'll know in the coming months if they are participants.

You're pretty much bang on Joe.

Anyone taking orders now and telling customers there is a deadline is full of it and trying to cover their ass for leaking the info early. Personally, if I had an order in with Patio World (or anyone else) I would demand my money back as they are flat out lying to get people to put money down ahead of time. Kinda shady in my opinion...

These kettles will be readily available to anyone who wants one - both in Canada and the US.

Finally made it to my local Ace Hardware this morning and asked the manager about this grill and he had no clue. He did eventually find it in his database, but said there were no orders being taken yet, and at this time, he couldn't pre-order. He is going to do some more digging and will contact me when he knows more.

It makes no sense for Weber to offer a limited edition grill, spend money to research it, time to design unique features,  eventually promote it, then only to make it next to impossible for people that want it, to be able to find it to buy it.  It will be available to anyone that has a couple hundred bucks in their pocket... No doubt about that.  I'll be one if them.

+1

I am confident that if Weber has this thing planned and worked out correctly.... all of us who want one should be able to both in US and in Canada regardless if you signed and payed deposit or not.

TD

Not too happy with the scraps Weber throws to us in the US. They could have allowed the Alliance dealers to special order the Limited Edition Canadian Kettles for their customers. Stainless steel GBS grates for 57cm kettles as well, if someone wanted one. If Weber makes it we should be able to get it. Would have been good business for the small dealers.

Now that it's been said, let's roll smoke untill she is here!!!

Yes, this. It does look like Patio World was full of shit and trying to tap into as many sales as possible...
It certainly could be a mistake, or it could be them being a bunch of douchebuckets.
Either way, I'm getting mine from Ace.
If I had plopped money down at Patio World, I'd be cancelling and getting my money back.
